This study assessed the impact of dietary supplementation with Ascophyllum nodosum kelp meal on growth performance, health parameters, and meat quality in growing turkeys. Thirty-four birds were fed either a control diet or diets containing 1% or 2% seaweed from 10 to 21 weeks of age. Supplementation resulted in improved body weight gain and feed efficiency, along with a slight reduction in feed intake, indicating enhanced nutrient utilization. Birds receiving seaweed also showed improved carcass traits and meat quality, including better color and water-holding capacity. Blood analyses revealed favorable shifts, such as reduced cholesterol and triglycerides and increased protein fractions associated with immune function. These benefits are attributed to the bioactive compounds in A. nodosum, including polysaccharides and antioxidants, which likely enhance metabolism, gut health, and immune responses. Overall, the study highlights kelp as a promising natural feed additive for improving poultry productivity and product quality.
